It happens to you and me every day . . . in everyday places all around us. The question is, do we look for, take the time and have the patience to see the face of Jesus in the world around us?
In our efforts to see Jesus in the faces of those around us we discover two important things: First, whenever we ignore, judge, reject, or condemn another person, we are ignoring, judging, rejecting and condemning Jesus.
And secondly, whenever we affirm the goodness beauty and love in someone else, we are honoring and glorifying God.
Where do you see the face of Jesus?
Rev. Bob Burton, Rector
This reminds me of something I learned by watching my mom. Whenever I'm out I look for people to compliment. I always look for people doing the jobs most people don't want to do. I remember this woman in Niagara Falls Canada who kept the bathrooms clean at one of the busiest spots. They were spotless & she looked so defeated. I thanked her & her whole face changed. Six months later I visited there again & she saw me & smiled brightly. She still remembered me from one sentence of kindness. One other time during busy Christmas shopping I saw an older woman with fantastic glasses standing near me. She looked stunned when I told her how nice she looked. My mom overheard her as she ran to her daughter & said "There are nice people in the world!"
Thanks for this reminder Tammy!
